It’s lovely here in spring. Life starts anew. Some pictures to begin with.
We had little snow in winter, but lots of rain in April and May. Everything is so green now. A nearby river almost flooded.
It was beautiful to experience the wildness of the water (at least for me).
Firewood
Here is a flashback to the beginning of the year. Some trees have difficulty with the climate change. It’s getting hotter and drier. Their roots cannot draw enough moisture from the earth, they dry out while still standing. Then they are unstable and so can become a danger for us humans. One of our friendly neighbors knows how to fell trees. Together with him we looked at trees that needed to go. He did a great job cutting them and stacking the wood. This will be our firewood the coming winter.
Something new
You may wonder where this firewood goes. It will take more than one spring before we can start building. Still we want to be close to the land, to take care of it and give the project energy. Also to get to know the community here. Our project is bigger than the two of us can manage. It will involve other people, and it will need to be embedded in the local culture and responsive to the people who live here.
That’s why we decided to buy and renovate a house in the village, a ten-minute walk from Le Poiane. It has become a story in its own right, which we will tell more about soon. Here are already some pictures of the village we live in now, right in the center of it.
